Kuala Lumpur

From Mondulkiri we rode the dreaded minivan back to Phnom Penh to catch our flight too Kuala Lumpur.

We had 5 nights in Malaysia before our flight to Manila. This ended up being not enough days to really see/enjoy the city life and also take a trip to a neighboring area so we spent all 5 nights in the city.

At the helipad lounge about 40 stories up.

We really enjoyed Kuala and its mesh of Indian, Chinese and Malay cultures. It’s a pretty advanced area with some great food, fun shopping and fancy malls.

The nicest mall that we have ever been to…I think it was the Pavilion Mall, but we went to 3 malls that were all massive.
Roti canai – our breakfast of choice in KL.  It was only 1.2 Ringit per piece which equals about 27 cents.
Patronas Towers look much more impressive in person, but here is a photo anyway.
We were a little underwhelmed by the light show provided by the Patronas Towers.
We found a Planetarium and enjoyed playing with a photo booth that put your face on an astronaut. Jeanette got a kick out of seeing me with hair.
As you can see, I was much better at using the photo booth than she was. I think she was always standing too close.
A rollcoaster inside a different mall than the previous picture. It also had the biggest bowling alley that I have ever seen and an archery range.

Some of things we did: saw the Petronus towers, visited the Batu Caves, got blind massages in Little India, flea market in Chinatown, watched Beauty & the Beast at the nicest mall we’ve ever been to, walked a couple hundred miles, enjoyed a ride on the free city bus.

Some of those hundred miles that Jeanette mentioned included a few hundred steps up to the Batu Caves.

Batu Caves – This poor monkey struggled to get the fanta bottle open while also trying to keep it from his friends. Jeanettes favorite part of the Batu Caves.
A blind band that we enjoyed listening to in the Petaling Street Market
We tried ear candling. My ears turned out more wax than Jeanette’s. The back and shoulder massage that came with it was also really good – second best to one that I had in Bangkok.

    1. No, it had a loopty-loop, so I was not going to ride it. The price to get into the little theme park area also helped keep us out. I think it amounted to $13 or so each.
