End of Chiang Mai and on to Siem Reap

The last days in Chiang Mai were lazy days. As Jeanette loves to walk we did a good bit of walking this morning. Public toilets are hard to come by sometimes so we ended up on a fast sprint to the nearest park (which we’ve learned usually have paid public restrooms). After paying our 6 baht and using the restroom, the lady who sells you toilet paper asked if we wanted a massage (150 baht). We didn’t really have any reason to decline so we said sure. She got a mat and picked a spot in the park by the pond. I sat and read while Jeanette got hers. Then when it was my turn Jeanette decided to buy fish food and ended up befriending the pigeons and feeding them on my back.

We visited another night market that evening where we had a smoothie by Pa (Jeanette reads about her in a blog and had to have one of her smoothies) and Jeanette finally got her a whole fish grilled.  She had been eyeing them for the last couple of days, but kept walking away due to the prices being too high.

Another random massage I got while Jeanette was shopping the night market

The next day we said goodbye to Thailand on a plane bound for to Siem Reap, Cambodia.  We actually overstayed our visas by 3 days in Thailand, so we had to pay a 500 baht ($15) per person per day fine.  We knew that it was coming, but Jeanette got her hopes up that they might not notice when they stamped our visas with departure dates.  I was just happy that we didn’t get caned or whipped – haha.
Here’s a few photos from our departure and arrival to Siem Reap. For the next 12 days our friends Monika and Sith from Mobile will be joining us.
