So hopefully this post will bring us up to date. We will blame our tardiness on our adjusting to our busy teaching/adventuring life balance.
We’ve been shocked at how much our host’s generosity has allowed us to do. At least every other day they commit part of their day to taking the volunteers out. So much so that often I’m kind of crossing my fingers for a break but the excursions are always well worth it.
In the last couple of days we’ve done some temple hopping, a rooftop cookout and some markets.
A British couple also volunteering with us at the school.
Often the temples are up on hills with lots of stairs to climb.
Delicious coconut icecream (excuse the fake smile I was busy eating)
One thing we learned was that for a 1.5 kilometer radius around any temple you at not allowed to kill any animals/living creatures. So there was this neat river near a temple that was stocked full of fish that you could buy food to feed.
There was different foods to buy depending on what types of fish you wanted to attract. The bread and pellets attracted catfish while the bowls of fruit attracted a perch like fish called Barb.
Yes those are all fish fighting for food.
And that brings us up to this evening- we had a really nice hotpot dinner on the rooftop. Tomorrow is our last day here at the school- I am determined to get a teaching-in-action photo to post. After that we will be in Chiang Mai northern Thailand for 5 days and then off to Cambodia.

The sparkling glass temple looked breath taking. Feeding the fish looked like fun too…although it made me think of a James Bond movie for some reason. You’ve had some awesome excursions. I can’t wait to see what you will do next. How is your finger Jason? You’ll have to excuse the mom question..its been on my mind and i couldn’t hold it in anymore…love, mom
