The main city square where everyone congregates to eat, chat, play sports, and ride scooters. Apparently Ermoupolis, Syros is home to the largest city square in Greece and this quickly became our kids favorite place to go hangout and see friends. ]

The view from our apartment- a great start to our trip, such a peaceful, exciting view to wake up to.

Just walking around exploring when we first arrived and we were excited by how close the sea is to our apartment. There’s no actual beach within close walking distance to us but there are a handful of swimming platforms to go to.

Our ‘front yard’. There’s actually a great little green space to the left here but unfortunately the gate to enter it has been locked for apparently years now.

Our chosen Boundless apartment ‘Hera’ is in a pretty great location, situated perfectly between the kid’s school and the main square. This encourages the perfect amount of walking in our day.

Figuring out public transportation is always a favorite of ours. There is a free ‘mini bus’ that has 3 routes around the main city Ermoupolis. Our Argentinian friends pictured here, shy away from no adventure so they’ve been fun to travel with.

There’s one other bus system that loops the entire island. It takes just over an hour and costs 2 Euro per person 5 and up. It’s a great way to see the coastline. This day we got off at Gallissas Beach.

The following weekend we rode to a stop further and got off at Kini Beach.

Trying as much as possible to take advantage of the stairs.

Orientation Day at the school. This involved a 45 minute trial run where we dropped the kids off in their classrooms and went to listen to a presentation. Poor Jenna I think cried the full time but once we returned she could enjoy exploring the classroom.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of graffiti and abandoned/dilapidated homes in Syros. It all kind of blends in to create what Syros is though, so you quickly stop noticing it.
