After our kayaking trip, we started heading towards Andalsnes for our final and most difficult hike, Romsdalseggen. We free camped one night on the way (where they ate another batch of mussels), and then camped at a paid campsite in the town for 175 Krone.

For the hike, I will let the pictures do most of the talking, but my overall opinion of the hike is that it was the coolest of the 4 hikes with the best views and the most difficult climbs. It was 10.3 km long and took us 6 hours and 15 minutes to complete. We took a taxi to the trailhead and took the trail back towards the town where our car was parked. This hike was also significantly colder than the others due it being the only overcast day of our trip to this point. At the top of the mountain, we estimated that it was about 40 degrees.

We had dessert at the Sodhalhuset Cafe the night before our hike and as a treat for completing the hike. Their cheesecake is probably the best that I have ever had, and some of their other desserts were good too. While at the cafe, we met a girl named Edda that offered for us to free camp along the river on her farm, which we took her up on.

Camping on the river was really nice. There was a bridge to a small island that we called Edda Island. Both couples placed their tents on some of the soft sand on the bank of the river, and after eating another meal prepared on Kenny’s camping burner, we all piled into their tent to watch a movie. About an hour into the worst film made in this decade (The Week Of), Mika noticed that the bottom of the tent started to feel a little like a waterbed. When we looked outside, we found that we were in about 4″ deep of water. Somehow the tent held the water out long enough for us to keep all of the electronics and our sleeping bags from getting wet. We carried our tents to high ground and then fished our shoes that had floated a little ways down river out of the water. After a lot of laughing and drying off, we settled back down in our tents and went to bed. (Needless to say, we did not finish the movie).
