The morning after the second day of wedding activities we made the 4 hour drive north to the Giant’s Causeway at the northern tip of Northern Ireland. It was extremely touristy there, but still a very cool place. Parking is difficult but after you figure that out (and please park for free, the lot cost £11.50 per person, but we jumped a curb for free) it is a short easy hike to the Causeway.

The causeway was built by a giant named Finn McCool, so that he could cross the channel to fight a Scottish Giant (forgot his name). When Finn saw the Scottish Giant was a good bit bigger than he was, he had his wife dressed him like a baby to avoid the fight. Unaware of what Finn looked like, the Scottish Giant only saw a huge baby and figured the dad must be enormous, so he ran back to Scotland destroying the causeway as he went to keep Finn from following. What we saw today is all that is left.

After taking in the Giant’s Causeway, we headed down to Belfast for our last night’s stay in Ireland. The city had a rough last century, but has been recovering for the last 2 decades. Jeanette and I really enjoyed strolling through it. If you have the chance, get buffalo wings from Tribal Burgers. They are the best wings that either of us have ever had. They were small but that might have added to their appeal. We got 15 for £6.25, so they are not expensive.

With that, we bid farewell to Ireland. It is a lovely place with friendly people. I recommend anyone thinking of going to see it, to take the plunge and go. The driving gets easier by the second day. And, I would get out of Dublin as soon as you can. The tourist destinations in the city were not nearly as impressive to me as the rest of our trip.

P.S. – We are camping a lot in Norway, so internet has been a little hard to come by. So don’t worry if I take a little more time between posts while here.
