Dublin in a Nutshell

Our trip starts in Dublin. We enjoyed 2 nights in an airbnb split with 5 other people. It was a very comfortable house, and large enough so every couple had their own room. Mika and Kenny are some friends of ours from Seattle, and they will be traveling with us for the next 3 weeks (really more us traveling with them – Mika did all of the planning).

While waiting for the tram, a car drove off the road on to the track. With the help of some Irishmen, we were able to push the car back on to the road.

The food of Ireland is actually pretty good so far and has been Jeanette’s favorite part, so far (fish and chips and potato gnocchi with pomodora sauce are a couple entrees that we have had). There are Pubs on every corner, and sometimes as many as 3. The public transit system seems to be completely on the honor system (which we, of course, have honored). It is a little expensive with a ride costing about €5.00 per person to get back and forth from Milltown to the city center.

We got to see a few tourist attractions today with mixed reviews. Trinity College is a pretty campus but probably not worth a trip unless you only have 10 minutes to kill. The Guinness brewery museum was really cool though. Kenny and I expect they make as much revenue off the tours as they do selling their beer. And, for some reason, Guinness beer just tastes better in Ireland. Apparently, the Irish think so too.
