We have landed

It was a long, long trip but we made it to Thailand (43 hours).  We got here about 10 hours ago, tried to stay awake but ended up crashing.  Now I am wide awake at midnight.   Here are some photos from our travel.

We were lucky for both of the long legs of the flight to have an empty third seat in our row (8.5 hrs from Houston to Mancester and a little over 12 more from Mancester to Singapore). So we took turns laying down to rest.

This is us after about 16 hours of flying.  We actually flew over Afganistan (kinda surprised me)

Singapore Airport

Our first meal in Thailand. The airbnb we are staying at is a good ways outside of the city center and not many people speak English. After walking the local alleyways, we decided on a more distinguishable restaurant (having more than a couple dining tables). The menu was entirely Thai. We pretty much nodded yes to the first 4 things the waitress suggested (assuming she must be suggesting the more ‘normal’ menu items)- we really need to learn some Thai words. We didnt do too bad- we were served grilled chicken, rice, a very spicy lemon based chicken soup and a side dish medley of radish, tomato, greens and baby shrimp- for a total of 195 baht ($5.50).  The meal was good, but I didn’t eat the little shrimpy things.

Here’s the view from the deck of our airbnb.

I am posting this at 11:30pm Thailand.  I am currently watching them put up a market in that parking lot across the canal.  Our host said they put it up every night starting at 2am and break it down by 10am the next morning.

Anyway, we are glad to have our feet on the ground.   Have a good night everybody.
